The podcast Viaggio in Martesana is a self-produced podcast from the podcast factory of Stazione Radio, a cultural center on sustainable living in via Tofane 45 in Milan. The series includes four episodes in Italian and English with testimonies and stories told by experts of the Martesana with insights into history, architecture and landscapes over the years.
The first episode is dedicated to the discovery and birth of the Naviglio, how it has developed over the years, which characters have made it famous, the legends born around its waters told by Giuliana Fantoni, scholar of Medieval History, Edo Bricchetti, humanist and architect, Federico Beltrami, Consorzio di Bonifica Est Ticino Villoresi, Carla Colombo, Consorzio di Bonifica Est Ticino Villoresi and Emilio Pelosi, last miller.
The second episode describes the nature and environment surrounding the Naviglio Martesana. Stories are told of bees, centuries-old trees, flowers and plants from other countries around the world. The following people take part in the story: Giulia Capodieci, an expert in plants and plant intelligence, and Alberto Mattavelli, a naturalist and science communicator.
The third episode is on the theme of energy. We go to discover the historic Esterle, Bertini and Semenza hydroelectric power plants located along the Adda River. Then we will get to know the water mills up close, the real protagonists of this story with the voices of: Cristina Ricci, Ecomuseo Martesana, Carla Iacobini, Territorio – Divisione Power Asset Edison and Damiano Rigamonti, Divisione Idroelettrica Edison and Piero Maranghi, great-grandson of Piero Portaluppi and operations director of the Piero Portaluppi Foundation.
The last episode tells the story of the discovery of the architectural beauties that surround the Naviglio della Martesana, narrated by the voice of Giorgio Ravasio, President of the Crespi d’Adda Association and Piero Maranghi.
