Stazione Radio, a smoke-free space
As a cultural space on sustainable living, Stazione Radio is smoke-free: although the space is outdoors, smoking is not allowed. It is a decision we are very proud of, because smoking is unsustainable for our health nor for the Planet!
To produce a single cigarette:
- – it takes 3.7 liters of water (that’s 110 bathtubs for an average smoker in a year);
- – emissions equal to 14 grams of carbon dioxide;
The production of all the tobacco smoked in a year:
- – requires 22 billion tons of water, or 8.8 million Olympic-sized swimming pools;
- –contributes to 84 million tons of equivalent carbon dioxide emissions – as much as 112million Rome-New York flights.
Also, the tobacco industry contributes to deforestation, water pollution and the dispersion of waste harmful to the environment. Last but not least, its impact on health: smoking is the leading cause of preventable death (and weighs on the public health coffers for about 9 billion euros every year…)
